Since we started up in February a lot has happened! We ran the push up challenge in the summer as a fundraiser, and we have used that to run many taster sessions with many charities and groups including the Full Circle Project, OTR, Borderlands, Barton Hill Activity Club and Youth Moves.
Simultaneously we applied for, and won two grants! One from the Quartet Foundation to run capoeira classes for asylum seekers and refugees and another from Sports England to run classes with children and young people to improve physical and mental well being.
This has been great and we now have 4 classes per week (plus a monthly one) up and running fully funded by these grants.
The grant funding is great, however we can only use it for specific purposes outlined in the conditions. This money goes towards directly running the classes, paying instructors and hiring rooms, however particularly as we come up to our first year end as a business we particularly need to raise funds to help with the (more boring!) admin side of running a CIC. In the long term we will look to find other way to cover these costs, but in short term we are looking to our community for help!
We will need to submit year end accounts to Companies House and also pay Corporation Tax (while we are a community interest company, we are still a company and that unfortunately means – tax). Due to the limitations on what we can use the grants for, we cannot cover all of this without further support so….
We are just starting our Winter Fundraiser!
We will have a raffle, T-Shirts for sale and another fitness challenge (Article Here!).
